The All India Loco Running Staff Association, on this day of International Working class solidarity May Day, 2020 in the midst of Pandemic Covid-19 Virus' tragedy which has severely affected the lives of all sections of people, expresses heartfelt gratitude to all the front line health workers be the Doctors, Nurses, Para medical staff, Sanitation workers, Police personnel and all others including Railway employees particularly Running Staff, Station, Engineering, C&W and S&T Staff among others, who are risking their lives to safeguard the lives of others.
The AILRSA condoles the families of the millions of people across the world who lost their dear ones to the Covid19 pandemic.
The AILRSA appeals to all the people to strictly follow the advisories, instructions & orders of both the Central, State governments as well as the district and local authorities to prevent, contain and treat the pandemic Covid-19 Virus disease to drive it away, for saving Lakhs off precious lives.
The AILRSA asserts that the only way to overcome the present crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic as well as the already existing global economic crisis, for the workers and all sections of toiling masses is to unite for protecting their lives and livelihoods, the Earth and Environment.
The AILRSA alerts the working-class to remain vigilant against the anti labour policies of the ruling classes aimed at attacking your hard earned rights, wages, working conditions with an ulterior motive of forcing the working-class to work as a bonded labour.
The attacks already unleashed under the guise of crisis arising out of Covid-19 are, Freezing of DA/DR payable from 01-01-2020 & further installments up to 30-06-2021. Forcing BA test on running staff against the safety protocol of Covid-19. Non-payment of ALK to the running staff for the nationwide lock down period from March 2020. Privatising Railways and public sector units. Codification of Labour laws to the detriment of the interests of Labour with an ill motive of reintroducing Archaic working conditions of Labour prevailed in 18th & 19th centuries and persuasion of many more such anti labour policies.
The world has witnessed the plight of Crores of migrant workers, in the unorganised sector of India, who were left to their fate during the lockdown period of Covid-19, without food, shelter, medicine, and transportation facility. They were forced to truck their way for hundreds and thousands of kilometers by foot to reach their native places. In the plight of their Journey alongside the roads and railway tracks, many had lost their lives in the accidents and for lack of medical facilities and also out of hunger. It is the mass organisations and Trade Unions like AILRSA who came forward to help them by providing food and shelter at many places.
Loco men,
Unite against the onslaught of government to defend your hard earned rights. Extend solidarity to the central trade unions sponsored program of action,
"Nationwide protest day on 22-05-2020, to fight back the government's attempts to make draconian changes in Labour laws".
